Suspect Who Secretly Entered JetBlue Aircraft Found Asleep in Lavatory

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida, a 32-year-old man who allegedly entered a JetBlue aircraft that was parked for maintenance without authorization was found asleep inside the aircraft’s lavatory.

According to police records, Sammuel Lackey climbed over a security fence approximately 8 feet (2.4 meters) high at around 1 a.m. on August 1 and entered the maintenance area. He then used portable stairs that maintenance crews used to access the aircraft and boarded a 2012 Airbus A320, whose rear left door was open during maintenance. Lackey reportedly entered the lavatory and hid there.

After maintenance work was completed at approximately 4:25 a.m., the crew finished their work, closed the aircraft’s doors, and the aircraft was towed to another parking position. Lackey remained inside the aircraft and was reportedly found asleep in the lavatory by JetBlue employees about an hour later. The incident was also captured on security cameras.
